This code covers polyolefin-based plastic wood products used as exterior residential decks. Plastic wood products are currently made mainly from recycled polyolefin plastics (especially high-density polyethylene), where the cross section of the product is more or less uneven. しかし, the specification may also apply to similar plastic products made from other plastics and plastic composites with non-uniform cross sections. The performance requirements that the product should comply with include bending properties (allowing bending stress, effective elastic modulus and creep adjustment), dimensional stability during thermal expansion, weather resistance (changes in surface appearance and bending properties and moisture and heat cycling), fire resistance and skid resistance. The procedure for calculating the recommended span length of the support joist spacing is also detailed here.
